The Ch\u00e2teau de Nazelles is a french listed historical monument, a fieffal hamlet nestled into the hillside overlooking the village of Nazelles. The Ch\u00e2teau was bought and reconstructed in 1518 by Thomas Bohier, financial treasurer for the King of France and constructor of Chenonceau, and his wife Catherine Bri\u00e7onnet. It remained the home of the succeeding Lords of Nazelles up to the french revolution in 1789. The ch\u00e2teau was then turned into a wine estate. Numerous architectural elements from the Renaissance period are still present.
Famed artists have lived at Ch\u00e2teau de Nazelles over the years, finding inspiration in the quiet and beauty of the place. One of such was symbolist poet Viel\u00e9-Griffin who at the end of the 19th century, resided here with numerous friends, Andr\u00e9 Gide, Mallarm\u00e9 and Paul Val\u00e9ry to name a few. The painter Debat-Ponsan, renowned portrait artist and emeritus of fine arts from Toulouse, set up his studio at the ch\u00e2teau in 1900. <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
